A Fighter’s Heart Blog Story

This would take place right before Dom’s charity match with Zachery.

“Dom, we have thirty minutes to get out the door and to the doctor’s office,” Riley called out as he grabbed Emilia to take her to the truck.

“Adba da bebe.” Emilia smiled at Riley.

“I’m here.”

Riley sucked in a sharp breath at the sound of Dom’s voice directly behind him.

“Dang it, Dominic,” Riley growled turning to glare at Dom. “How many times do I need to tell you not to sneak up on me?”

“And how many time do I need to tell you, you shouldn’t say my full name with ill intent?” Dom said with a grin.

“Oh bite me.”

“Dada, dada,” Emilia chanted as she reached for Dom.

“Hey, beautiful girl. You ready to go to the big bad doctor?” Dom asked as he bounced Emilia in the air causing her to laugh in joy.

“Oh, hush. Going to the doctor is not that bad.”

“What if she needs to get s-h-o-t?” Dom whispered.

“Dom, she can’t spell. You can say the word.” Riley laughed.

“Still, you’re going to be the one to hold her if she does have to get shots.” Dom shuddered as he said the last word.

“You aren’t seriously afraid of needles? You get punched in the face for a living.”

“There is a big difference between taking a hit to the body, and getting stabbed with a pointy object,” Dom declared.

“Wow. Okay, you big baby let’s go.” Riley smiled to himself at the glare Dom threw him before turning to walk out to his truck.

Riley got into the passenger seat as Dom put Emilia into her car seat before getting in the driver seat.

“Are the guys coming over this weekend?” Riley asked Dom when he passed through the gate.

“I think so, but we both know Xavier and Zach will pop up at any given moment.”

Riley chuckled because Dom was right. They sat in silence, apart from when Riley hummed along to the songs that came on the radio. Soon they were pulling into the parking lot of the doctor’s office.

Riley took Emilia into the waiting room while Dom checked her in. Riley sighed in relief when there was only another man and woman sitting there. He hoped that meant they wouldn’t have a long wait to get in to see the doctor. Riley took Emilia from her stroller and was bouncing her on his knee when a deep voice spoke behind him.

Riley looked up to find his lover walking toward them. The smile on his face slipping.

Dom groaned when he spotted Roy sitting behind Riley. With how happy he was with Riley, and before then, Dom had forgotten to give his old lover a call to let him know everything had worked out for him.

Dom’s eyes moved from Roy to Riley. Riley had raised an eyebrow at the stunned look; Dom was sure he was sporting. Dom looked back at Roy who had gotten close to them.

“So what brings you here sexy?” Roy asked with a hint of lust in his voice.

Dom held in another groan as he caught the glare Riley shot his way. “I brought my daughter in for a checkup.”

“Nice,” Roy stated with a nod of his head. “I see you got everything settled. I’m a little hurt; I thought I would have gotten a phone call by now.”

“Oh really?” Riley questioned.

Roy must not have heard him or decided to ignore him because he continued to talk. “Where is she?”

“Yes, Dominic, where is she?” Riley growled.

Oh, fucking hell.

“Oh.” Roy startled, looking down at Riley before his eyes moved to Emilia.

“She’s cute. I hadn’t gotten a good look at her that night she was dropped off.”

“Thanks.” Dom cleared his throat. “This is my partner Riley.”

“Oh … oh.”

“I would say it’s a pleasure, but I’m on the fence about that,” Riley greeted with a fake smile.

Roy looked shocked for a moment before he spoke. “I don’t poach on anybody’s man. A phone call would have been great, but I get it,” Roy stated before looking back at Dom. “It was great seeing you. I’m glad you have somebody.”

“Thanks, Roy.”

Riley huffed as the other man moved back to his seat. Dom sat next to Riley, who had turned to look the other way. “Come on Ry, that was in the past.”

Riley turned back to glare at Dom. “I know that, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

Dom understood that. He hadn’t like Gabriel, and that was only one past lover. Dom knew he wouldn’t like anybody that had been intimate with his partner.

“How about I make it up to you tonight?”

Before Riley could answer a nurse called out, “Emilia Bennett?”

“I’ll hold you to that,” Riley whispered as he walked pass Dom, pushing Emilia’s stroller.

With a lecherous grin, Dom followed Riley. He knew of the perfect way for his lover to know that he was the only one for him.

Dominic “The Animal” Bennett
Dom is currently the MMA’s World Heavyweight Champion and is on top of the world. His world is rocked when an ex comes into the picture with a surprise that will change his life forever.
As Dom adjusts to being a fighter and father, he will learn what is important in his life when the chips start to stack against him.

Riley Hall
Riley loved his job at Manny Services until one of his best friends took a client from him behind his back. And to top everything off, his year-long boyfriend decided to call it quits.
Riley confused, and angry decided he will start new, and find his forever family. Riley hits the jackpot when he answers an ad as a live-in nanny for a new father.
Now all he needs to do is stop fantasizing about the father, and he could have his happily ever after.

“Dom, I brought the nanny applications for you to look over today.”
“How long has it been since you posted the ad?” Dom vaguely remembered Holly saying something about needing to find a nanny for Emilia but wasn’t sure exactly when she’d decided to move forward.
“I knew you weren’t paying attention! Figures,” she sighed, shaking her head. “You’re helpless without me.”
“Okay, okay.” He figured he needed to say something before she decided he wasn’t listening again.
“Because I’m awesome, I’ve narrowed it down to four people. They’re stopping by for interviews today. You’re welcome.”
“Wait… what? Interviews?” Dom looked up from cleaning Emilia’s face. “I don’t even know what kind of questions I’m supposed to ask. Can’t we do it tomorrow?”
“No. Because I know you’ll keep putting it off until it’s too late. Need I remind you that you’re scheduled to start training for your next fight in less than two weeks?”
Damn it, she was right. Dom’s training schedule was grueling the closer he got to each match. “Okay, okay, but do I have to do it? Can’t you talk to them for me?” he pleaded, trying to sound as pathetic as possible so Holly would take pity on him.
“No, I can’t do it for you. You need to decide who’ll be taking care of Emilia yourself, especially since they’ll be living with you.”
“What the hell do you mean, living with me?”
“Language, Dom,” Holly chastised. “We both know how crazy your schedule gets. You’ll need someone who’s available twenty-four seven.”
“Can’t we hire someone to be on call?” Dom didn’t feel comfortable having someone he didn’t know living in his home. His feelings contradicted leaving the same person to watch Emilia while he was gone, which caused him to cave with Holly’s suggestion of a live in nanny. “Alright, alright. How long do I have until the first person arrives and do you have their resumes or something, so I don’t look like a complete idiot when I answer the door?”
“The first appointment is in thirty minutes. I’ll keep an eye on Emelia while you look these over.”
Dom glared at Holly before taking the resumes and nondisclosure forms she handed him. He knew she left it to the last minute on purpose.
“Don’t look at me like that. Honestly, how you can be a MMA bad boy but are afraid to talk to people is beyond me.”

3 x 3 WiP and Tag, You’re It

I’ve made some new author friends, and Addison Albright, my new friend, has tagged me in the 3 x 3 WIP tag-around. I’ve been seeing a version floating around Facebook where just the first line of each of the first three chapters is shared, but this version calls for the first three lines of the first three chapters, so that’s what you’re getting.

So I don’t know how many authors friends I need to tag, but I will tag Carly Rose, Ashley John, and Dean Frech.

This is from my current wip, A Fighter’s Heart, who is with the lovely Carly, looking for a release really, really soon.

Chapter One:

Dominic “The Animal” Bennett stumbled back, shaking his head after taking an elbow to the face from his opponent. He needed to get his head in the game if he wanted to beat Jeffrey and still keep his MMA Heavyweight title. After they traded a few kicks, punches, and elbows, the bell finally rang ending the five minute second round.

Chapter Two:

Dom had forgotten that Summer had text him earlier letting him know that they needed to talk.

“Is this a bad time?” Summer asked adjusting the baby on her hip as she began to fuss.

“No, come in.” Dom moved out of the way and tried to process when Summer had, had a kid.

Chapter Three:

Riley Hall looked at his watch for the fifth time in the past twenty minutes. Gabriel, his boyfriend of one year, was late for their dinner date again. Riley tried to hold in his sigh as he realized only two minutes had passed.

“Sir, would you like some more wine?”

Simple Saturday: Update

Ok so it’s me again. I know, I am rather iffy when it comes to blog posts, but I have sworn to myself to change that. I have a reminder on my phone to tell me to make the blog post for the next day. I know that’s really sad, but I find it to be helpful these past two days.

What the heck am I up to? If you check the blog and look in the corner where the little progress bars are, you know that A Fighter’s Heart is steady climbing up there. Although I haven’t updated it recently. At the time of this post, AFH is at 45242 words. I have also joined a critiquing group with some wonderful people and the ones working on AFH have given me some invaluable feedback on the story. I have a feeling this will be my best book yet. So if all goes to plan, and sweet baby Jesus, I hope that they do, I should have it published by mid-July or sooner, but let’s cross our fingers for mid-July though.

What comes after that, Loving His Mercenary will be released in the summer time as well. Then comes the next story in the Red Moon Pack series. Hopefully by then I will know if I want to write it like Mated, or if they will be two stand-alones.

I may have not been active with the blog, but I swear I have been writing.

Until next time.

Teaser Tuesday: A Fighter’s Heart 2016 (Unedited)

Dom waited for Riley to say which one, but he didn’t. Dom slowly walked around Riley, while keeping one hand his shoulder so he wouldn’t fall. As his eyes roamed Riley’s perfect body incased in his leather pants and tank top, Dom saw a lump in one of his back pockets. He fished out the keys and hoped it was in his imagination when he heard Riley moan.

“Let’s get you home.” Dom stated, wrapping an arm around Riley’s waist.

“Will you tuck me in?” Riley asked leaning further into Dom’s body.

“Sure, now where did you park?”

“On the street,” for whatever reason, maybe because he was drunk, Riley thought that was hilarious, and begun to laugh.

Dom picked a direction when he realized Riley wouldn’t be any help in finding his own car. He started to walk and hoped that was the way where Riley parked.

“You’re strong.”

“Thank you.”

“And sexy.”

Well damn. “Thank you again.” Dom found Riley’s car parked a block away from the club. He place Riley in the passenger seat before going to the driver’s side and taking them home. As they drove, some female singer started singing and Riley slurred the words, singing along.

“Holy, fucking hell,” Dom shouted when he felt Riley’s hand start to slide up the inside of his leg. He dropped one hand from the steering wheel onto Riley’s seeking hand.

“Did you know the first time I saw you I wanted to lick every inch of your body?” Dom groaned at Riley’s words.

“How about we stay quiet?” Dom gritted between his teeth. “Why don’t you get some rest?”

“At night I dream of you fucking me through the mattress.”

“Oh fucking hell,” Dom’s cock perked up at Riley’s words and the images that started playing in his mind.

Almost home, almost home. Dom tried to tune out the rest of Riley’s sexually charged words. He breathed a sigh of relief when he pulled into the drive way. After turning the car off, Dom went to help Riley out of the car. Dom walked to the door and paused to get his keys.

“You’re going to have to be quiet when we go in. Holly’s sleeping on the sofa.”

“Okay, got it. Shhh.”

Dom held in his laughter as Riley put one finger to his lips, making the shushing noise. He opened the door and made a beeline for Riley’s bedroom. Once they were inside, Dom sat him on the bed.

“You said you would tuck me in.” Dom stared at Riley in horror, he didn’t know if he had that much self-control to get Riley ready for bed.

“You’re right I did.”

Dom pushed Riley’s shoulder until his back hit the bed. Unzipping Riley’s pants, Dom grinded his teeth when Riley moaned. “Oh, fuck me,” Dom muttered to himself when Riley’s pants opened. He wasn’t wearing any underwear.

“I need you to lift your hips.” Dom groaned when Riley complied, his wonderful cock pushing into the air as if searching for Dom’s mouth or hand. He kneeled in front of Riley making quick work of taking of his shoes and pants. He was tempted in saying to hell with undressing Riley, but he had come this far. He could control himself. He stood looking down at Riley, who had his eyes closed and a silly grin on his face.

“You can touch me; I won’t complain.” Riley whispered.

“Let’s just take your shirt off, then you can get some rest.”

“Mmm… okay.”

Dom quickly took off Riley’s shirt before lifting him to pull the covers from under him. That was his mistake. Riley wrapped his arms around Dom’s neck, hanging on for dear life. Dom tried really hard not to let the naked man have an effect on his body. He was losing that battle slowly. Once the bed was ready for Riley, Dom tried to get him to unwrap his arms from around his neck causing Riley to wrap his legs around his waist as well. Fucking hell. He bent his body laying Riley across the bed and moaned when Riley’s warm lips touched the side of his neck.

“Riley, you need to stop,” Dom breathed heavily as Riley’s teeth sank into his neck.

“But you taste so good.” Riley stated between licks. He unwrapped his arms from his neck, but kept his legs tightly wrapped Dom’s waist.

Dom felt Riley’s hands reach under his shirt caressing him. He held in the shudder that tried to take over his body. Dom was torn, he needed to stop the sensual assault on his body, but if he moved his hands, his body would be flushed against Riley’s.

“You’re skin feels amazing, and I knew you would have a very defined six pack.” Riley slurred before he laid his head back onto the bed. As he stared into his eyes, Dom knew what was about to happen next. He didn’t stop Riley from pulling his head towards him and pressing their lips together softly. He moaned when Riley’s tongue licked the seam of his lips. Opening for him, Dom heard the moan that escaped Riley’s mouth. Dom could taste the alcohol he drank tonight. He needed to stop. Dom took a moment to enjoy the feeling of Riley’s mouth on him, he was not a saint, before he extracted Riley from his body. Standing he looked at the pout on Riley’s face.

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

It is about that time. I’m sad to say 2015 just was not my year. Yes, I had my good moments, but I think the bad moments outshined the good ones. 2016 will be better (or I want a refund.)

So what will you see from me in 2016? Although  I hadn’t had as many releases last year, this year will be different. I will be working on last the book in the Mercenary in Love series, Loving His Mercenary. I know, I know, it’s a work in progress. I am hoping the beginning of Spring.

I am currently working on A Fighter’s Heart still, so with that I am hoping will be out mid to end of February.  Hopefully the real world won’t intrude on myself or my editor, fingers crossed. What you might not know is that it will be turning into a series with three books to it.

Conquered Mate will be in paper book, hopefully mid January. Followed by Cherished Mate. I am still working on the revisions. I don’t know if I want to add anther couple to it or give the couple their own short, short story. (I meant to put both shorts.) After that will be followed by Jeremy’s story and many more to come in that series.

Besides the main series I have out, there will be a few stand alones and hopefully the start of some new series.

This year I will try to do better with the social media, though I really don’t have the mind frame for it. Never know what to say or post in general. I’ll try harder though with at least one post a week, book related.

Here is to an awesome 2016!

I also have a new motto for myself, for those times that I feel discouraged.

I’m back!

Ok, so some people may have noticed that I have been MIA. I will start by saying that RL has been taking its toll on me. I’m talking about when you wake up and you are like today is going to be a good  day, I’m going to get this done, or today is the day it’s going to be perfect. I haven’t had a good day in a long time. It’s really sad. It got to the point where I literally didn’t have the energy to do anything. Worry and stress is a very bad combination.

Now it’s back to the regularly scheduled program. I’m done feeling sorry for myself, so I’ve been writing. What have I been writing you ask? Well Fated Mate and Destined Mate are finished, they are with my editor right now and I should have Fated Mate back really soon. Like I said before there will be major changes in those two books, but the story is somewhat the same. I am looking to release that one on August 10-20th. Don’t quote me on that, I have learned all to clearly how plans can change. I have finished the revisions for Conquered Mate, not too many changes, just need to type that up. I know I’m just going to add some scenes to Cherished Mate.

Also the title for Jack (Jake), I can’t remember his name and that is really bad, but Noah’s father and Shane’s story will be Unexpected Mate and I doubt it will be more than 10k words. Their book will basically be the set up for Jeremy’s story, which got the title Beloved Mate.

I am currently working on A Fighter’s Heart and I think it might be my first novel length book. Yay. After that I am going to hopefully start the next and final book in the Mercenary in Love series, Loving His Mercenary. Killian and Elliot’s story.

All I ask is to have some patience with me, I’m working on getting back on track. There are good things to come.

Thanks for all your support and love, until next time.

“Have you talked to Harvey recently?”

Riley Hall stopped his grocery cart in the middle of the aisle. Oliver’s tone of voice told him he needed to pay close attention to his next words.

“No, I haven’t spoken to him lately. I thought he was out of town with the Robertson’s this week.”

Riley, Harvey, and Oliver worked  together for an at home manny service. Each with their own clients. Harvey should have been at the beach with the Robertson’s. Lucky bastard.

“I think you need to talk to him along with Mr. and Mrs. Marshall.”

Riley’s ears perked up at the name of his clients. They had a little boy and girl, Alicia and Tanner, who were six and three. He had been with them since Tanner had been eighteen months.

“Why do I need to talk to them Oliver?”

Today had been Riley’s day off, it wasn’t uncommon for the families to use another person from the manny service. He had decided to go grocery shopping, he could only live off of noodles for so long. He didn’t think he needed to worry about his clients.

“I got a call from Harvey today. He told me the Marshall’s wanted to keep him on full time.” Oliver stated matter of fact.

“That son of a sea biscuit. He knew, he knew, I’ve been trying to get on full time with them.”

When a client liked one of the mannies services, they normally took them on full time. Making it so that they worked exclusively with that client.

“Really Ry? If there were ever a time to use the word bitch, now would be that time.” Oliver chuckled.

Riley had needed to curb his tendency to use sentence enhancers, better known as curse words. He found out quickly that kids will repeat whatever you said.

“Shut up, this is serious.” Riley admonished as he started pushing his cart again.

“I know, that’s why you need to use grown up words.”
