“Is it supposed to steam that way?” I ask, as I blow on the soup.

“Oh my God, just taste the soup.” My boyfriend tells me.

“Mmm… it can do with a little more salt, I say with a straight face.

“Seriously?” He asks as he reaches for the salt.

“No, love it tastes perfect.”

“I swear this will be the last time I cook for you. Next time we’re ordering in or you’re going to be the one doing the cooking. I swear everybody’s a critic.”

“Awe, I  love you too.” I chuckle as he storms out of the kitchen.

“Why would you even say that?” I ask as I lean forward, my head resting on his nose.

“Well, it’s true. She should not have worn that outfit.” My fiancé replies with a chuckle.

“You and I know that, but honestly did you have to let her know that.”

“Yes, love. You do not mix polka dots, with animal print. Somebody need to let her know, so she wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.”

“But there was a nicer way to tell my mother that.” I chuckle, pulling back to look into his laughing eyes.

“I know, and there is a way to act like you like me when you don’t. She’s horrible at pretending she likes me. I know she’s secretly waiting for a doctor to come into your life.”

“Oh, hush you. I don’t want a doctor, I want you.”

“Awe, I love you too.”

“How much longer until they start selling tickets?”

I turn my head to look up at my husband, from where my head rested on his lap. I could tell that he was tired, but we both have been waiting for this concert to come to our small town.

“We have about another three hours. I told you, you could go to sleep and I would wake you when we needed to get up.”

I watched as he smothered a yawn. “If you’re staying up, so I am I.”

I chuckled to myself. I didn’t see the point in both of us saying awake, but I knew he wouldn’t be persuaded other wise.

“I love you too.” I say with a smile on my lips.

“Do you know that you smell good?”

“And you sniffing me in public is not weird at all?” I state with a chuckle.

“If you would rather I didn’t, all you have to do is say so.” My husband stated as he went to pull back.

I placed my hand on his to come him close to me, “I kind of like you being weird.”

“I just bet you do.” He chuckled.

“We can go home and you can smell me anywhere you like.”

“Let’s go.” He stated as he walked us forward towards home, never letting me go.

“I was thinking, once the weather warms up, we can take the boat out and go sailing for the day.”

I turned to look at my lover as we strolled down the beach. “I would like that. I haven’t been sailing in a while now.”

“Well, we will remedy that on the first sunny day we have.”

“I can’t wait,” I pulled him closer to my body as we walked side by side, arms wrapped around each other’s waist. “We need to hurry though, our movie starts in an hour, and then we can go home and relax for the rest of the night.”

“That sounds like a plan.”

“We should stay in tonight. Can’t we reschedule dinner with your sister tomorrow?” I asked perching on his lap, while he sat in the love seat.

“We already cancelled once. I don’t think she will take too kindly to us canceling again.”

“But I wanted to relax at home with you. Work was horrible and I just wanted to chill tonight.”

“I know, but we can relax tomorrow night and we won’t stay for dessert, no matter how much she begs,” he stated with a grin.

“Oh, if we must, I suppose.”

“I think you could at least sound a little bit more excited about it.”

“Oh, if I must.”

“Gee Brain, what do you want to do tonight?”

“Same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world.”

I stare down at my lover, laughing. He gets me.

“You are such a dork.” I state with a fond smile.

“If I am, so are you. You started it.” He states chuckling.

“I know, but I didn’t expect you to keep going, I thought you would tell me what we were going to be doing.”

“I did, one restaurant at a time. I’m starving.”

“I can’t believe you talked me into eating this?” I say, looking at the bread in my hand.

“Oh, do be quiet. You didn’t have to say yes if you didn’t want to.” He said with a smirk on his face.

“I couldn’t say no.” I state with a grin. “Because now if I want something from you and I didn’t like this, I can use that as ammunition.”

“Oh, really? Now what happens if you do like it?”

“I haven’t thought that part out.”

At the sound of his laughter, I smiled to myself. His laughs were becoming one of the things I wanted to hear most in the world.
