Teaser Thursday: Mated

“Thank you for coming on such short notice,” Noah greeted his father and the Elders when they arrived.

“Not a problem. We were already planning to stop by to make sure everything is going as planned with Rachel,” Zeke answered for the group.

Noah followed his guests into the living room, taking a seat next to Mitchell on the sofa. Rachel had joined them as well, and once everyone was seated he prepared himself for all hell to break loose.

“I wanted everyone to meet as soon as possible to announce that I won’t be mating Rachel as originally planned. Rachel, you are a lovely woman and my decision doesn’t reflect negatively on you in any way,” Noah turned towards her with an apologetic smile.

“You agreed to this Noah, you can’t back out now,” Zeke growled.

“Watch it old man. I’m still Alpha of this pack,” Noah growled harshly, and Zeke had the decency to look sheepish. “I will not be mating Rachel because last night I claimed my true mate, her brother Mitchell.”

The Elders all began shouting at once. Their horrified and bigoted comments enough to tempt Noah to violence if they didn’t shut the hell up soon. To his credit, Noah’s father, hadn’t said anything yet, and Rachel sat in stunned silence while Mitchell’s steadying presence offered support.

“Enough,” Noah snapped. “I will address your concerns one at a time.”

“You can’t possible mate him, it’s unheard of.” Unsurprisingly, Zeke was the first to speak.

“It may be unheard of but let me assure you that it is very possible because we are already mated. Has your eyesight gone bad? You can clearly see my mating mark on Mitchell’s skin.”

“What about uniting the packs? If you aren’t going to mate Rachel it’s obvious you don’t have the best interest of the pack in mind.”

“That won’t be a problem, the packs can still unite. It must have escaped your notice that Mitchell and Rachel are siblings. I’m not answering any more question, we are going around in circles. Mitchell is my mate. End of story.” Noah was having a hard time controlling his wolf. It wanted to tear the Elders to shreds for doubting his mate.

“We will see how long you remain Alpha,” Zeke hissed.

The hairs on the back of Noah’s neck stood up. “Was that a threat, Elder? Let me assure you that I am fully capable of defending my status as Alpha and protecting my mate.” The power coming off Noah crackled in the air, demanding they turn their heads and submit to him. “I take care of my pack. I put their needs above my own. I was even willing to attempt to mate a female for them. You are the ones who are betraying the pack. Alphas are always stronger with their fated mates at their side. You will not tell me that I can’t mate Mitchell Goddamn it. He is my mate.” Noah felt his skin crawl as his wolf tried to come forward to eliminate the threat to his mate.

“Let’s take five minutes to cool off before something happens we’ll all regret,” Mitchell said as he stood and began to pull Noah towards the kitchen. His mate was seconds away from shifting. Before the kitchen door had time to swing close, Mitchell spun around and trapped Noah with an all-consuming kiss; the kind that makes you think of nothing else. After a couple of minutes, Mitchell pulled his mouth away. One minute Noah was about to kill someone and the next all he wanted was to find a bedroom and take his mate.

“Better?” Mitchell asked, his voice husky from their kiss.

“Hell yeah, let’s do that again.” Mitchell chuckled and turned to lead Noah back into the living room. “That’s not fair. First you get me all hot and bothered and then you make me go back to a room where I want to strangle half the occupants.”

“Think of it this way. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can go to bed.”

Noah followed Mitchell back into the living room. As far as he was concerned, this meeting was already over. The only question left to answer was if there would be bloodshed or not.

“I have a suggestion,” Zeke announced as soon as they were seated again.

Noah raised an eyebrow. He didn’t like the tone of Zeke’s voice, the man up to something. “I’m listening.”

“The obvious solution is to hold an Alpha challenge.”

“What!” Mitchell’s efforts to calm Noah shattered.

“Noah, just hear them out,” Mitchell whispered forcefully into his ear. Since Noah wanted heads to roll, he would have to be the one to keep the peace.

“We will select three wolves who we feel are better suited to the position of Alpha then you are to challenge them in the ring. Whoever wins will then fight your brothers Nathan and Nicholas. If the contender beats all three of you, then your family will no longer be the Alpha family, and he will be Alpha,” Zeke continued.

Noah wanted to gut the pompous ass. He watched as his father’s body stiffened and then relaxed. His father knew none of the challengers would defeat Noah. There was no reason to worry about his younger sons.

“All right. Choose who you want on these conditions. Once I beat the wolves you choose you will leave us the hell alone. From this point forward, anyone who doesn’t keep their mouths shut about my leadership, my mate, or any other same sex matings that occur, will have to find another fucking pack.” Noah would rather gut them then make a deal, but Mitchell obviously wanted to do things the old-fashioned way so no one would ever challenge them again.

Once they had selected a date for the Alpha challenge, the Elders left. Noah, Mitchell, Rachel and his dad were the only ones who remained. Rachel and his dad had been quiet throughout the entire meeting and Noah turned to Rachel now. “I am sorry things had to work out this way. I had intended to follow through with my promise to mating with you, and your brother had decided to leave, but I couldn’t let him go.”

“You have nothing to apologize for. I understand completely.”

Rachel looked disappointed but not terribly hurt and Noah was relieved. It wasn’t her fault and he didn’t want to cause her any pain. “You can stay as long as you like.”

“Thank you, I’m very happy for the two of you and will take you up on that offer. Unless you had something else to discuss, it’s been an eventful morning and I’d like to go to my bedroom and rest for a while.”

“No, nothing else, thank goodness.”

Rachel smiled at them pleasantly before headed to her room. Now the only person left to deal with was his father.

“I’m proud of you son. You stood up for your mate and what you believed in.”

“You’re not upset?”

“No, son. I want you to be happy, and it’s obvious that this young man does that for you.” To say Noah was stunned would be an understatement. He’d thought that his father agreed with the Elders’ plan to arrange his mating. “Yes he does Dad, more than you know. Thank you for understanding.” Noah was exhausted, and it wasn’t even ten in the morning.

Simple Saturday: Update

Ok so it’s me again. I know, I am rather iffy when it comes to blog posts, but I have sworn to myself to change that. I have a reminder on my phone to tell me to make the blog post for the next day. I know that’s really sad, but I find it to be helpful these past two days.

What the heck am I up to? If you check the blog and look in the corner where the little progress bars are, you know that A Fighter’s Heart is steady climbing up there. Although I haven’t updated it recently. At the time of this post, AFH is at 45242 words. I have also joined a critiquing group with some wonderful people and the ones working on AFH have given me some invaluable feedback on the story. I have a feeling this will be my best book yet. So if all goes to plan, and sweet baby Jesus, I hope that they do, I should have it published by mid-July or sooner, but let’s cross our fingers for mid-July though.

What comes after that, Loving His Mercenary will be released in the summer time as well. Then comes the next story in the Red Moon Pack series. Hopefully by then I will know if I want to write it like Mated, or if they will be two stand-alones.

I may have not been active with the blog, but I swear I have been writing.

Until next time.

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

It is about that time. I’m sad to say 2015 just was not my year. Yes, I had my good moments, but I think the bad moments outshined the good ones. 2016 will be better (or I want a refund.)

So what will you see from me in 2016? Although  I hadn’t had as many releases last year, this year will be different. I will be working on last the book in the Mercenary in Love series, Loving His Mercenary. I know, I know, it’s a work in progress. I am hoping the beginning of Spring.

I am currently working on A Fighter’s Heart still, so with that I am hoping will be out mid to end of February.  Hopefully the real world won’t intrude on myself or my editor, fingers crossed. What you might not know is that it will be turning into a series with three books to it.

Conquered Mate will be in paper book, hopefully mid January. Followed by Cherished Mate. I am still working on the revisions. I don’t know if I want to add anther couple to it or give the couple their own short, short story. (I meant to put both shorts.) After that will be followed by Jeremy’s story and many more to come in that series.

Besides the main series I have out, there will be a few stand alones and hopefully the start of some new series.

This year I will try to do better with the social media, though I really don’t have the mind frame for it. Never know what to say or post in general. I’ll try harder though with at least one post a week, book related.

Here is to an awesome 2016!

I also have a new motto for myself, for those times that I feel discouraged.

Mated Out Now!

Did you know that Mated the first book in the Red Moon Pack series is out now? And followed right after it will be Conquered Mate out October 27th!

Sneak Peek:
Mitchell sat at the bar nursing his beer. He’d needed to get away for a while and decided to go to a bar that his pack didn’t own. If he had, the way his luck was running lately, someone would have walked in and wanted to discuss his sister, Rachel’s, upcoming mating ceremony. The pack was a flurry of activity as they waited for final confirmation from the other pack’s Elders. The situation had struck Mitchell as odd. He didn’t understand why their Elders had approached them in the first place. If the Alpha was interested in finding a mate, wouldn’t he want to look himself? He’d tried to talk to his father about his concerns but Thomas hadn’t thought anything was wrong.
Mitchell turned around on the bar stool, beer in hand, as two shifters walked in. He paused when his eyes landed on the man on the left. Something about him made Mitchell want to lie on his back, baring his stomach and throat. He knew the man was an Alpha, but there was more to it than that.
With his enhanced senses, Mitchell had no problem making out the other wolf’s features. He looked to be around six four, his tight t-shirt emphasizing the fact that he had muscles, lots of them, and that was a huge turn on. He shuddered as he imagined licking those defined lines after a night of rough sex and damn near came at the thought. Then their eyes met and he was enthralled by their emerald green color. The Alpha’s eyes stayed locked on his until his companion asked a question that broke their gaze. It took every ounce of his self-control to keep himself from approaching their table.
Draining his beer, Mitchell placed the empty bottle on the bar before heading to the bathroom. He walked to the sink and splashed water on his face. What the hell is wrong with me? Sighing, he placed his hands on the sink, bracing himself as he dropped his head forward. I need to get laid.
“Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing.”
The sexy wolf he had been drooling over was leaning back against the door.
“That I needed to getting laid.”
Oh, shit. I said that aloud. “Well, good luck with that.” Mitchell took a step forward, waiting for the man to move. When it didn’t look like he was going anywhere, Mitchell took another step forward. Getting a closer look at the wolf was a bad idea, and Mitchell barely bit back a groan. His eyes zeroed in on the other wolf’s plump lips, fuck if they weren’t a gay man’s dream come true. Mitchell could spend hours nibbling on the bottom lip alone. He took a deep breath, pulling the well-muscled man’s scent into his body.
“Oh, fuck me,” he whispered as the smell of strawberries went straight to his cock. He took an involuntary step forward, pressing their chests together.
“It looks like we both will be getting laid tonight,” his mate growled under his breath.

Fated Mate Revision Unedited

Stepping into the night air, Ethan needed to go speak with Isaiah. He was still upset that Isaiah stood him up tonight, but he felt as though his feelings shouldn’t matter after the bomb he was about to drop on him. Maybe it was a good thing he hadn’t come over. One of them would have given in to their need to mate. He had a feeling it would have been him.

Taking deep breaths of the night air, Ethan set off on the same path he’d walked a thousand times to Isaiah’s place. After the conversation he just had with his mother he felt like shit, but now his stomach twisted in knots. He was going to tell Isaiah that he was going to be looking for a female mate. He didn’t know if he should tell him that his mother was dying, that her last wish was for him have kids. Placing his hands in his pockets, he tried to picture how Isaiah would take the news. All he could picture was the hurt he knew would be coming from Isaiah.

He slowed down when he got to the door. He squared his shoulders, before walking up the two steps to knock on the door. He opened the door when he heard “come in”, Isaiah walking past him to go into the kitchen.

“Hey man, what’s up?” Isaiah greeted him on his way past.

Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath. That was the perfect opening for him to ask Isaiah why he never came over. He didn’t voice his question because it didn’t matter now. He opened his eyes before taking a step into the kitchen, but paused in the doorway, leaving some distance between them. Isaiah pulled a beer out of the fridge, then turned to look at him. The knots in his stomach grew tighter when he gazed at Isaiah’s rugged male face. His jawline was hard and sported a goatee with a matching mustache above his lips. His lips, they looked soft, and very kissable with his bottom lip fuller than the top. Ethan’s eyes traveled up Isaiah’s straight nose to his eyes, a light blue framed by long lashes that any female would envy. Isaiah straightened his six foot four muscular body, which caused his fitted black tee shirt to stretch across his brawny shoulders.

“Why are you just standing there?” Isaiah asked interrupting his appraisal before taking a seat.

“My mother just told me that she only has five more years to live.” He didn’t know why he started with that no that was a lie, he wanted Isaiah to know that there was a reason behind his words when he told him.

“Awe, man I’m sorry. How does she know that for sure?” Ethan watched as the muscles in Isaiah’s leg jumped, as if he was fighting with himself not to get up and comfort him.

“The pack seer told her this ten years ago.” Isaiah sat there for a minute as Ethan’s words sank in.

“She’s just now telling?”

“Yes.” He could see the wheels turning in Isaiah’s eyes as he tried to work out why his mother would be telling him now.

“Why did she tell you now Ethan?” Isaiah asked with a slight growl in his voice.

“She wants me to find a mate and give her grandcubs before she passes.” Ethan took a deep breath before looking Isaiah straight in the eye. “I’m going to give her that to her.”

A low growl met his words. Isaiah’s eyes held anger and pain, when he stood, his body was ridged. “What? I didn’t hear you right. It sounded like you said you’re going to take another mate.”

“Yes, that’s what I said. It’s for my mother.” Isaiah’s eyes narrowed. He never sought out to hurt him like this, but he didn’t see any other way.

“Is that so?” Isaiah asked, pacing the kitchen. “So that’s it? We’re not even going to discuss this? Do you have any fucking idea what that’s going to do to me?”

He had an idea, but figured it was a rhetorical question, so he didn’t bother answering. What wolf wanted to see its mate with another person? He didn’t know what to do, but they couldn’t claim each other.

For the first time in his life, he couldn’t look Isaiah in the eye. “I don’t know of any other way to do this. She’s my mother, and she’s going to be dying soon. What else am I supposed to do?”

“Tell her you already have a fucking mate.” Pain and heart ache engulfed him as he heard Isaiah’s voice crack with raw emotion. Ethan didn’t have to look at him to know Isaiah’s gorgeous eyes were shining brightly with suppressed tears.

“I couldn’t do that to her. I’m sorry Sai.” Isaiah winced at the nick name he had given him. “I’ll see myself out.”

He only made it as far as the hallway before Isaiah’s hand on his arm jerked him to a stop. Ethan turned to walk away. He got to the door before he felt a hand on his arm stopping him. He found himself turned, and pushed against the wall. Isaiah crowding close to him, so that his goatee brushed against his chin. Before Ethan could open his mouth to speak, Isaiah’s mouth crushed against his. His body stiffened, but hearing Isaiah growl, he tried to relax his body.

“Kiss me back.” Ethan heard the demand and frustration in Isaiah’s voice.

Blowing out a ragged breath, he kissed Isaiah back when their lips touched again. Isaiah’s assault on his lips was slow and sensual. As he let himself feel, he realized Isaiah’s lips were as soft as he thought they would be. He found himself melting against the other wolf, wanting more, and needing more. His hands had a mind of their own, wrapping themselves around Isaiah’s neck, fingers sinking into his hair. One of them moaned, but Ethan couldn’t tell which of them it was. Time seemed to stand still as they stood in the hallway pressed against each other, Ethan lost in pure bliss.

Finally, Isaiah pulled back his head. “While you’re with your other mate, think of that kiss. I promise it won’t be the same with her.” Walking back into the kitchen, Isaiah didn’t look back. Ethan stood staring after him stunned for a moment. He was tempted to raise his hand to his lips to savor the kiss. He shook his head to clear his mind before letting himself out to make his way home.

What the fuck is the matter with you? That was the million dollar question. Maybe he should have talked it over with Isaiah first. His choice effected both of them, but when his mother told him she was going to die, he figured he could give her the one thing she wanted most. A mated son, with kids of his own.

When he got home, Veronica was standing on his porch. She was a persistent thing, he had to give her that.

“Hey handsome, you finally made it home.” She stated when he walked up the steps and unlocked his door.

“What do you need Veronica?” He wasn’t in the mood for company at the moment.

Bating her eyelashes, Ethan saw the forced smile she plastered over her face. As if she couldn’t fathom anyone not falling all over themselves to be in her company. “I needed to talk to you about something. Can we go inside?” She asked sweetly.

Shaking his head, he stepped out of the way to let her inside. What did he have to lose? He already lost his mate tonight.

Red Moon Pack Update

I have been working on the Red Moon Pack. Yay I know right. The next book in the series will be Beloved Mate, Jack and Shane’s story. So as I am working, I talked to my editor and we had a long discussion. The conclusion of that discussion is the first four books will have some changes. Same story, just a different way about getting there, with a few things added in.

I’ve read the reviews, good and bad and I tried to incorporate those changes in. The first two books Fated Mate and Destined Mate will be changed the most, with Conquered Mate and Cherished Mate having add on to fit with the first two books.

Fated Mate and Destined Mate will be considered one book. I am tossing around the idea of Conquered Mate and Cherished Mate as one book as well, not sure yet. Once the new revisions go to my editor, the original work of the first two books will go on sale until I publish the new books, in such time the old ones will be taken down.

After that I hope to have Beloved Mate and the next book in the series out one after the other. Fingers crossed. I will also try to have them all ready by the middle of summer, hoping that real life doesn’t intrude to much.

I see great things for this series and I am grateful for all the support.
